The Grandmothers and me
I may not be a crone, and I know I am not a maiden, but I have worked with the grandmothers and seen how they are amazing. I have walked along a path that’s been full of ups and downs, the normal sort of happenings that anyone can have. I have seen the good and bad times, some worse than others, and I have survived what others feared would have been my end. I have lost a lot of souls along the path I’ve walked, a little girl here, a teenager there, and even an adult who couldn’t take no more. I visited the grandmothers around a sacred fire, and asked for them to help me while I sat with them a while. They spoke to me in silence, without words from their lips, instead they showed me images of things they thought I’d missed. I saw some children playing alone and carefree, unaware that they were missing and supposed to be with me. I saw other images of myself alone and lost, and yet they were not frightened or aware that they were lost.
I asked my many grandmothers to show me what to do, how to call them back to me so we can be whole. They again did not answer me with words as we’d expect, but instead I heard with images that danced inside my head. I saw not with my eyes, and I heard not with my ears, instead it was my heart and soul that the words were taken in. The grandmothers still work with me, I’m aware of who they are, and I welcome their wisdom to help me learn some more. They teach me what I need to know, and show me what is right, it’s not based on opinions of what others think is right. I am writing to let all those who read this know that if you truly believe in magic and you truly believe in the healing abilities of our ancestors then the guidance you receive from this class will, without a doubt, will be life changing for the better. I took this class with Aveana hesitantly so, not because of disbelief but because of uncertainty. I did not want to relive my horror stories or share my past events with others for a variety of reasons, not to deny that they took place, but rather to be known for who I am and not for what I went through. When I was told that there would be no sharing of that sort I felt more comfortable, and Aveana was true to her word, there was no rehashing of past events only a sharing of joyful memories from younger years to reconnect with out childhood and the children we had lost along the way through our individual journeys. The meditative journeys to the grandmothers were gentle, and full of wisdom I have never found from any other source, and I have seen many counselors throughout the years. The guidance was clear, concise, and some times hard to face or accept, but it was all personal messages meant specifically for me and no other. We shared stores confidentially of what our journey was like, but only what we wanted to share, and the interpretations, by rule, were not made by others in the room. Those messages had specific meanings that only I would be able to interpret for myself as no one else has walked in my shoes. The grandmothers have become a VERY big part of my life, and I visit with them when I can, and if I am unable to make a full journey I still say a prayer to them, and know that they are listening. They give me signs along the way that let me know they are an active part of my life, and it is very comforting. They have taught me the power of love, and so has Aveana. For that I will be eternally grateful, and for those who truly want to heal under the direct guidance and care of an amazing shaman, I highly suggest that you take this class with Aveana.
